Plaza Del Mercado In Santurce, Puerto Rico

Plaza del Mercado or La Placita, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, is a very popular place among young professionals.  The Plaza del Mercado has become more than a place to buy fresh produce, with its many restaurants and bars around the market’s plaza, it is the place where Puerto Ricans come to socialize after work.

La Placita is an open-air plaza that transforms into an open-air bloc party and the center of nightlife on Thursday and Friday nights, with a laid back crowd, good food, and great dancing.   Twenty minutes from Old San Juan, at La Placita you can buy inexpensive beer and cocktails and listen to live music around the plaza.

If you are a tourist, do not venture out of La Placita area, as some parts of Santurce are not safe at night.  If you go to Santurce make sure you know where you are going.  La Placita gets crowded every Thursdays & Fridays, and is a great place to mingle with the locals, have a few drinks, try some Puerto Rican food, and enjoy some dancing on the streets of Puerto Rico at La Placita.

Take a look at this video at La Placita:

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico To Get New Boardwalk

There are plans by the government of Puerto Rico to build a 2-mile boardwalk, starting from El Morro Fort in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.  The exact route is yet to be determined, but it will include a number of landmarks near El Morro Fort, at the entrance of the San Juan Bay.

El Morro Fort was built in 1600 by Spain, to guard the entrance to the San Juan Bay, and defend the city of Old San Juan from foreign enemies.  El Morro is a World Heritage Site and a National Historic Site in the U.S. National Park Service.  El Morro Fort gets over two million visitors a year.

Government officials did not disclosed how much the project would cost or when construction would begin.
