Puerto Rico Ready To Welcome Tourist After Hurricane Irene

According to The Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Puerto Rico is ready to welcome tourist after Hurricane Irene hit the island last Monday.  The majority of the roads have been reopened and electricity has been restored to most of the island.  Hotels, casinos, airports and ferries are operating as normal in Puerto Rico, Culebra and Vieques.  Cruise ships and airlines are arriving and departing as scheduled.

Hurricane Irene passed over Puerto Rico early Monday morning, toppling trees, downing power lines and leaving much of the island without electricity.  The hurricane flooded streets, and caused several rivers to overflow their banks.  Forecasters earlier said, Irene, then a tropical storm, was likely to pass south of Puerto Rico, but the storm shifted north and  passed directly over island.  During this time the storm was upgraded to Hurricane Irene.

Puerto Rico was lucky, as it suffered minimum damages with Hurricane Irene.  We hope the other  locations in Irene's  path, do not suffer major damages.

Photo Of A Shark Swimming In The Street, After Hurricane Irene Hits Puerto Rico, Is A Hoax

A photo that shows a shark swimming in a flooded street in Ponce, Puerto Rico, after the arrival of Hurricane Irene, is a hoax.  Hurricane Irene brought heavy rains and flooding to many areas of Puerto Rico, this is true, but the shark in the picture is not.  The picture was photoshopped.  A well done photoshop job, as it got a lot of people believing it was true, including a stateside local news television station, that ran the photo and the story as true.

It appears that the shark in the photo was taken from an existing photograph by Thomas Peschak, showing a man in a kayak being trailed by a 12-foot Great White Shark off the coast of Australia.

Were you duped by the picture?

Take a look at a video of the picture of the shark, as it aired on a stateside television newscast:

Visitors and locals can enjoy lakeside dining.  Several lakeside eateries also have boats, transporting diners to and from these restaurants.  The boats operate daily from the Lago Dos Bocas park, to pick up visitors and transport them across the lake to a scenic outdoor restaurant.  Diners can sit down and enjoy the environment and a home cooked traditional Puerto Rican meal.  Be sure to read the menus beforehand, so you can choose which restaurant you like best.  The restaurants are open on the weekends.

Lago Dos Bocas is an escape from the daily grind.  Dos Bocas is a wonderful experience on the island of Puerto Rico.  There is more than relaxing boat rides and wonderful cuisine.  Lago Dos Bocas is also the place for kayaking and fishing.  No matter how you decide to spend your day at the lake, it will certainly be an unforgettable experience.
