IKEA Furniture To Open Stores In Puerto Rico

It has been reported that IKEA, the Swedish home furniture company, is looking to open shops in Puerto Rico.  Officials from IKEA were in Puerto Rico last week searching for locations in the San Juan metropolitan area.

IKEA is the world's largest furniture maker.  The Company, based in Stockholm, has plans to set up three stores, and a central warehouse.

The report said IKEA is expecting to start operations in Puerto Rico by the end of the year.  IKEA had 655 million customers last year, from its 287 stores.  IKEA employs 131,000 people in 41 countries.

UPDATE:  IKEA opens first store in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

    1. Ikea furniture is made in Sweden in the company's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, the largest furniture factory in the world (it appeared in The Learning Channel's program Megastructures). Ikea furniture is made from top quality wood (not fiberboard) and precision-cut by robots, so that every part fits exactly as it ought to when you assemble it at home. Their kitchen cabinets (of the modular European Style) are among the best in both quality and price.

    3. Seriously? What a dumb comment to make. Do you even live in PR or have ever been to an IKEA? If you can't answer yes to both questions, then you don't deserve to make a shallow comment like that. If you can answer yes to both questions, then I'm surprised you wouldn't see how an IKEA on the island wouldn't be a boon to both style and quality for furniture purchased here, at that price, not to mention that is isn't yet another US chain (wait, there's something out there besides the US?!?).

  6. I am very excited that Ikea is going to open 3stores. Well I hope that one of the stores will open on the west coast of the island, so that way they could benefit from both sides of the island. I am glad I sent them an email. I usually shop at the Ikea in Eliazabeth, NJ! But I am moving to Puerto Rico soon, and we were planning on shipping things over, so now I can buy them in PR. Hope they come to Mayaquez area!!!!!

  8. This is Tuesday. On Saturday I was walking though the Ikea in Hickville, Long Island with a friend. While she shopped I just wished for an Ikea in Puerto Rico--anywhere in Puerto Rico (I live in Patillas and realize that is out of the question for a location). So now I see this announcement and rejoice. When will it happen?

  18. Look for how it affects the surrounding furniture. Transitional coffee tables with an airy base can accommodate stacks of books and various magazines. akıllı sehpa
