Covid -19 Variant, Omicron Is In Puerto Rico

 

The Covid -19 variant, Omicron has arrived in Puerto Rico, and the government of Puerto Rico has taken new measures to stop the spread of the virus.


New rules are:



1- All establishments serving food or drinks must require proof of vaccination or a negative  Covid -19 test, taken 48 hours prior to arrival.


2- All passengers arriving on domestic flights are required to show a negative Covid - 19 test taken within 48 hours before arrival time, regardless of vaccination status.  Passengers without a test will have 48 hours to take one upon arrival or be subject to a fine.  Unvaccinated travelers must quarantine for 7 days after arriving, regardless of whether they have a negative test result.



3- All restaurants, bars, theaters, stadiums, coliseums, convention centers, and casinos, will limit capacity to 50% for indoor event and 75% for outdoor events.  



4- All businesses will close between midnight and 5 AM, except for health services and pharmacies. 



5- Alcohol sale is also prohibited between midnight and 5 AM.



6- Masks are required indoors, regardless of age or vaccination status.  Masks are required on all outdoor activities of 50 attendees or more.
