Air Europa To Launch Direct Flights From Puerto Rico To Spain


Air Europa will launch next May, direct flights between Puerto Rico and Spain.  Spain-based Air Europa will operate two nonstop flights per week between San Juan and Madrid.  The trans-Atlantic route between the two capital cities will be covered by a 299-seat Airbus A-330 aircraft.  The service is expected to land 15,000 additional European tourists per year, to the island of Puerto Rico.


Germany’s Condor Airlines is the only other airline currently offering direct flights to Europe from Puerto Rico.  Condor Airlines offers twice a week flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Frankfurt, Germany.


Air Europa, a privately held carrier, founded in 1986, has a fleet of 44 airplanes and employs some 4,000 people.  Air Europa offers connecting flights from Madrid to major European cities including London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Milan, Paris, Rome and Moscow.

Delta And Condor Adding Flights To Puerto Rico

Delta adds flights To Puerto Rico

Delta Air Lines is increasing service to Puerto Rico, as part of its latest expansion in New York City.  In March, 2012, Delta will add new daily flights between New York-JFK and San Juan.  Delta will operate daily flights on the route using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.


In June, Delta will add new routes and flights to seven U.S. cities from New York-JFK, including Austin, Texas; Jacksonville, Fla.; Kansas City, Mo.; New Orleans; Milwaukee; San Francisco; and Los Angeles.


Condor Airlines serving Puerto Rico

Condor Airlines began serving Puerto Rico with flights to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, from its base at Frankfurt Airport. 


Condor, a German airline, operates scheduled leisure flights to the Mediterranean, Asia, Africa, North America and the Caribbean.  Its main base is Frankfurt Airport.  Other bases for Mediterranean flights are Munich Airport, Hamburg Airport, Düsseldorf International Airport, Stuttgart Airport and Berlin Schönefeld Airport.


Condor Airlines offers two weekly Condor flights: Wednesday and Saturday.

JetBlue And Airtran Continue To Add Routes To Puerto Rico

JetBlue to fly to San Juan from Newark, and Palm Beach

JetBlue is adding daily flights from Newark, N.J., and Palm Beach, Fla. to San Juan, Puerto Rico.  During the last few years, JetBlue, has increased its presence in Puerto Rico, making it the largest airline carrier in Puerto Rico.


The flights are currently on sale.  Flights from Newark to Puerto Rico, start on April 25, 2012, and the flights between Palm Beach and San Juan will begin May 22, 2012.



AirTran adds flights from Fort Lauderdale to San Juan

AirTran Airways will add nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale and San Juan.  AirTran Airways  currently offers nonstop service to San Juan from Atlanta, Baltimore, Orlando and earlier this year, AirTran launched new daily nonstop service between Tampa and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, giving travelers more options for reaching the island of Puerto Rico.


Government approval is still pending, so tickets are not on sale yet.

UPDATE:  Service between Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, in Puerto Rico, and Fort Lauderdale will start Thursday, May 24, 2012.

AirTran Airways, Direct Air, And JetBlue Airways, Add Flights To Puerto Rico

AirTran starts flight service from Tampa to Puerto Rico


AirTran Airways has started a new daily nonstop service between Tampa International Airport and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Puerto Rico.  Tampa is not the only option for nonstop service to San Juan.  AirTran Airways also offers direct flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico from Atlanta, Baltimore and Orlando.  With the added route, fliers will find getting to Puerto Rico and Tampa easier than ever.   


These are the daily nonstop flights currently available from AirTran Airways between Tampa and San Juan:  Flight 380 Tampa to San Juan — 7:30 a.m., Flight 388 Tampa to San Juan — 1:44 p.m., Flight 381 San Juan to Tampa —11 a.m., Flight 389 San Juan to Tampa — 8:19 p.m.



Direct Air adds flights to Puerto Rico



Starting in November, 2011, Direct Air will add flights to San Juan.  Direct Air based in South Carolina, flies out of 18 markets around the East Coast including regional airports in New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Florida and Pennsylvania.  Direct Air service will include twice-weekly direct flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Worcester, MA, and San Juan, Puerto Rico and Niagara Falls, N.Y.


The Company will also offer flights that start in Plattsburgh, N.Y. with a stop in Orlando West/Lakeland, FL, before continuing on to San Juan.  The new flights will give more options to travelers flying to Puerto Rico.  Tickets for the flights to Puerto Rico are on sale now at Direct Air’s website at $99 each way.



JetBlue will start a San Juan, Puerto Rico to St. Maarten route



JetBlue Airways is expanding in Puerto Rico by starting a nonstop daily service from San Juan, Puerto Rico to St. Maarten.  With the addition of these flights, JetBlue Airways, the largest carrier in Puerto Rico,  is making it even easier to travel between San Juan and neighboring Caribbean islands.  This new route, subject to government approval, will provide connections to St. Maarten from New York’s John F. Kennedy, Boston’s Logan, Orlando International, and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airports.  Service to St. Maarten will be operated by JetBlue’s Embraer E190 aircraft.



Flights between San Juan and St. Maarten will go on sale soon, with service to begin November 17, 2011.   These flights will bring more options, while traveling throughout the Caribbean region.

British Airways Starts Flights In Puerto Rico

As Puerto Rico Is The Place had reported earlier, British Airways has started flights from San Juan to London's  Gatwick Airport.  British Airways will offer two weekly flights on a Boeing 777 aircraft.  A one million dollars incentive from the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, helped to attract British Airways.  The government of Puerto Rico wants to expand flights to the markets of the United States, Europe and Latin America.



This is a return for British Airways to the Puerto Rican market.  It has been ten years, since the airline had flights from Puerto Rico.  British Airways sees a lot of development in the Puerto Rican market, and is looking forward to great opportunities for British Airways in the island of Puerto Rico.



The current itinerary for British Airways has flights Monday and Friday in both directions, from San Juan to Antigua, and from Antigua to London.  There are no direct flights in the new route.

Airlines Add Routes To Puerto Rico

JetBlue and British Airways are expanding their routes to the island of Puerto Rico.  JetBlue is starting a new route nonstop service from Jacksonville, Florida to San Juan, Puerto Rico and it goes on sale at the end of this month. British Airways is launching a new route from London Gatwick Airport to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and will start operating summer 2011, flights are on sale now.

This is great news for travelers who want more options of flights to Puerto Rico.  Hopefully, more options will translate to cheaper fares.
